"da da"

Caden is 7 months old today! I can't believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like just yesterday I was holding my newborn. Today he started making the "da" sound on his own. Aunt Allison was over and after watching her for awhile he started copying her when she said "da da." Here is a little video.

Almost crawling!

Caden will be seven months tomorrow and he is trying so hard to crawl. Right now he gets around by rolling and scooting on his tummy. He pushes up on his hands and knees and then up onto his feet. I really need to get this house baby-proofed!! All of the plugs are safe but there are some cords we need to cover up. My life is about to drastically change. Right now I can sit Caden down in the living room while I get some stuff done and even though he rolls and scoots around I know he's not leaving the general area I sat him in. Once he starts crawling he'll be into everything, but I can't wait to see him learn this new trick! Here's a video I took of him this morning.

Pumpkin Patch

We took Caden to his first pumpkin patch last week. These are a couple pictures from one camera but I haven't transferred pics from the "good" camera yet. I'll post them when I do. There was a train ride and he loved looking around at everything, but we went during his nap time so he was pretty tired the whole time. Every time we sat him down to take a picture he would pick up the hay and put it straight in his mouth! We want to go to another pumpkin patch this week that has a hay ride but because of the rain I'm afraid it might be too muddy to go. Maybe at the end of the week!

Welcome to our family!

Well, we created this blog in March 09 right before Caden was born and I have FINALLY gotten around to posting something. Time has flown by since our sweet boy was born! He will already be 7 months old in just 5 days! It has been such a blessing being able to stay home with him full time. This is the hardest job I have ever done but certainly the best!! Caden is a wiggle-worm. He never sits still! He is constantly moving and looking at things. I describe him as a toddler stuck in an infant's body. He wants so badly to explore and get into everything, but his little body just can't do it yet. Caden knows 2 words already. When I say "puppies" he starts looking around on the floor for the dogs. When I say "kiss" (sometimes) he will open his mouth and lean in to me so I can give him a kiss. He's so smart! :-) He is sitting up on his own and is about to start crawling. He gets on his hands and knees and just rocks back and forth. I sat him in his pack 'n play the other day while I made the bed and I caught this on video:

Here is another cute video of him when it was his nap time. He couldn't decide if he was happy or sad.

We got Caden's Halloween costume a couple weeks ago at Old Navy. He's going to be the cutest dragon ever!

We were going to wait until Caden was over 7 months old to start feeding him solid food but at his last visit to the pediatrician he had dropped from the 10th percentile in weight to the 3rd percentile and the doctor recommended we start feeding him now so he can gain some weight back. I mean it when I say he doesn't sit still! He burns off everything he eats! We started with rice cereal and he loves it. Next will be sweet potato. Here's a video of him eating his yummy rice cereal. He still hasn't learned that he needs to actually open his mouth but he's getting better!

I could post so much more about our sweet family but I'll leave you with that for now. Check back for more cute photos/videos of our precious Caden!
